Introduction

Welcome to the Commonplace Book of Mental Health

[Definition of "commonplace book:"] "a central resource that makes it easy to find, re-read, and utilize each piece of wisdom you have obtained"

- Dan Brown, Master Class

This commonplace "book" (in blog form) is intended as a collection of mental health nuggets of "wisdom" compiled from experience in mental health therapy and studies in psychology. The goal of the book is to share what appears to be the most effective strategies for maintaining mental wellness.

In other words, after at least a decade of searching for mental health advice that actually works, this Commonplace Book of Mental Health compiles some of those results.

As time progresses, there will be corrections made as new knowledge is acquired, and no single piece of advice is generally applicable to every individual - consider individual circumstances and recognize that no advice is "set in stone."

And, of course, nothing in this Commonplace Book of Mental Health is a substitute for professional counselling or therapy, nor is it a substitute for professional medical advice. Contact your doctor or mental health provider if you have any questions about mental health or are in need of support.
